Understanding your Annual Member Statement
This session was designed to help members get to grips with their statement and give people the chance to ask questions to the experts.
Whether you’re just starting out, at the peak of your career or approaching retirement, your annual statement is an opportunity to check you’re on track, set some savings goals and think about any changes you’d like to make.
To view your statement, just log in to My USS – you’ll find it in the my documents section.
If you’re not registered to My USS, it only takes a few minutes – you just need your member number and National Insurance number to get started.
If you’ve joined USS since 31 March 2024, you’ll receive your first statement from us in 2025.
This session was designed to help members get to grips with their statement and give people the chance to ask questions to the experts.
Watch our short video to help you get to grips your statement and use it to make sure you’re on track for the retirement you want.
Your statement is a good opportunity to check whether you’re on track for the retirement you want.
If you received a statement last year and were earning above the 2023/24 salary threshold of £41,004 but earn below the new salary threshold of £70,296 for 2024/25, you can expect to see a difference in the projection figure included in your statement. This is because you’ll now be building up a greater proportion of defined benefits in the Retirement Income Builder and less savings in the Investment Builder, the defined contribution part of USS.
The information included in your Annual Member Statement is given only for the purposes of illustration and doesn’t represent any promise or guarantee as to the amount of benefits that you may receive and should not be relied upon when making any retirement or other financial decisions.
Please contact your employer in the first instance if you need a retirement quote or if you think any personal information in your statement may not be complete or accurate. However, if you have a query on any of the figures referred to in your Annual Member Statement contact us.
We strongly recommend that you speak to a financial adviser before making, or refraining from making, any decision in relation to your USS benefits.
