USS one of 60 investors calling for oil and gas companies to intensify their efforts on climate change
USS and 59 other investors, who combined represent almost $10.5 trillion in assets, have signed an open letter to the Financial Times calling for more transparency on tackling climate change from the oil and gas industry.
The letter highlights the importance of the Paris climate agreement and urges policymakers to take clearer and more collective action on implementing regulation that will support the necessary investment in lower-carbon technologies.
The letter strongly encourages all companies in the oil and gas sector to make concrete commitments to substantially reduce carbon emissions, assess the impact of emissions from the use of their products and explain how the investments they make today in energy sources and technologies are compatible and consistent with a pathway towards the Paris goal.
