Dame Kate became a Director of Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited on 1 April 2020 and became Chair on 1 September 2020. She’s also a member of the Investment Committee and Governance and Nominations Committee.
Dame Kate is one of Britain’s leading economists and was Chief Economic Adviser at the CBI between 1994-2001 before becoming a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee from 2001 to 2010. Since leaving the Bank of England, she has held a range of non-executive directorships spanning financial services, pensions, housebuilding, private equity and Government bodies with publicly listed, non-profit and government owned businesses.
Dame Kate has extensive pensions industry experience having been Chair of the USS Board of the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme since 2014, and a pension trustee for the Yorkshire Building Society from 2015 to 2019. In addition, she has a sound understanding of the Higher Education sector through her position as governor at Anglia Ruskin University from 2000 to 2010, including Chair of Governors from 2007 to 2010, and serving on the Council of Oxford University from 2017 to 2020.
