Transfer of responsibilities from UUK to UCEA

Universities UK’s (UUK) role in relation to USS transferred to Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) on 1 August 2024.

As part of the transfer, existing UUK appointments to the USS Board, the Advisory Committee, and the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) are now UCEA appointments.

The proposed transfer was first announced publicly in May 2024, after the JNC had recommended associated changes to the Scheme Rules in March 2024 to facilitate the transfer.

Writing about the proposed transfer in the scheme’s 2024 Report and Accounts, Dame Kate Barker, Chair of the USS Board, said: “We look forward to working productively and collaboratively with UCEA, as we have with UUK.”
